LEAVING THE DRAMA BEHIND

Here we are, sliding into September already, leaving behind the lazy days of summer and all the drama in the garden. Yes, drama. If you've ever watched the birds in your yard, you'll know what I mean.

The fledglings flapping their wings in the window feeder still learning how to feed themselves as mama bird looks on sighing to herself. The little bully cardinals chasing each other off the bird seeders. The five crows in the birdbath splashing away and scaring off the other birds. The woodpecker working daily on the tree stump until there’s nothing left. The crew of carpenter bees that seem to have assisted in the demolition.  The tapping of sunflower seeds by the tufted-titmice and their menacing stances to keep it all to themselves. Multiple nests of bunnies, and last, but not least, the snake that found its way into my kitchen!

Now the cooler weather is drifting in, the kids are going back to school and things are picking up. Outdoor shows and festivals abound, classes are starting up at the art centers, and the tribute to the life and work of Mitch Lyons at the Chester County Art Association in West Chester, PA. opens on September 5th with a reception from 5:00-7:00 PM. You’ll be immersed in the diversity of clay monoprints displayed by four clayprint artists who were all mentored by Mitch.
